We have three allotment sites (Manor Road, Southbrook and Wellhead). The
land
is leased from the Duchy of Cornwall and the Parish Council rent plots out to parishioners at a minimal yearly rent. Recent years have seen an unprecedented demand for allotment plots and we now have waiting lists for all three sites.

The Council looks after Castle Hill, including The Approach and the play areas in White Road Gardens and Huntsgate (behind the Walnut Tree Inn). The Parish Council members are also Trustees for the Mere Peace Memorial Sports & Recreation Ground. The children’s play equipment is inspected regularly to ensure compliance with safety regulations but we welcome suggestions and information from parishioners and users. The Clock Tower, is a significant feature of Mere owned by the Council, has now been opened as a public display area.
Since taking on responsibility for the grounds at Duchy Manor and with the help of funds provided by Developer’s Contributions, Salisbury District Council, Sport
England and the Football Association, the Parish Council has been able to refurbish the tennis courts, refurbish the community changing rooms, build a sports pavilion, provide a new full-size bowling green, refurbish the swimming pool and construct a floodlit Multi Use Games Area. The Parish Council now has a Sports Development Programme to encourage and increase the range of sporting facilities that meet the demands of the community.

The Parish Council administers and manages the cemetery which is a source of great pride and a feature which has contributed largely to our accolade in winning
the Best Kept Large Village Competition several times in recent years and in 2000 winning the regional finals of the Village of the Year Competition. The North Chapel is usually open for rest and prayer. Applications for memorials should be made, in writing, to the Parish Clerk.
